Gallop Poll on Evolution 1982 to 2014

Gallop Poll on Evolution 1982 to 2014

Since 1982 the GALLUP survey group has been conducting an ongoing poll on the American public's acceptance of evolution. A typical survey is conducted by contacting 1,000 American adults at random, usually by phone, and asking them the question shown below.

If "1,000 Americans" sounds like too small of a sample group to you for this survey, you might be interested to learn that (according to their own research) larger sample sizes do not noticeably change the results of their surveys.

This is the question they’ve been asking is this:

Which of the following statements comes closest to your views on the origin and development of human beings –

  1. Human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God guided this process
  2. Human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God had no part in this process
  3. God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so

The results are as follows:

As you can see, rejection of evolutionary theory is suprisingly high at its current position of 42%. You can help us try to fix this problem by sharing our animations with your friends and family.
